Assigned volunteer driver – medical appointments
GOAL
The position of medical volunteer driver aims to helps the beneficiaries of the SARPAD volunteer centre during their medical appointments. This service is part of the global aid for home care of elderly or dependent persons.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Inform his automobile insurance provider of the type of volunteer work.• Get all necessary information regarding the service to be provided (date, time, location, mobility status and route).
• Call the beneficiary the day before his appointment to go over the arrangements.
• Get to the beneficiary’s home at the pre-arranged time.
• Drive the beneficiary to his medical appointment.
• Guide the beneficiary at all times.
• Remain on premises for the duration of the appointment.
• Collect payment from the beneficiary for the transportation service.
• Ensure that the beneficiary has successfully entered his home by accompanying him.
• Communicate with his SARPAD coordinator to give a report.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Have his own vehicle along with a valid driver’s permit.
• Have a valid insurance for the vehicle.
• Be 18 years old or over.
• Speak French and/or English.
• Be patient, empathetic, receptive, punctual and discreet.
• Have a sense of responsibility.
AVAILABILITY AND NECESSARY COMMITMENT
• Schedule is variable, daytime from Monday – Friday.
• Service duration is around 4 hours.
• A minimum 6-month commitment is required.
ADVANTAGES
• Fuel expenses are covered by SARPAD.
• Orientation and training activities are offered free of charge.
LOCATION OF THE VOLUNTEER SERVICE
• Beneficiaries all live in the districts of Côte-des-Neiges and Outremont.
• An itinerary is provided ahead of time.
• The grocery shopping is done at the Métro Racicot, 1280 Avenue Beaumont, in ville Mont-Royal (TMR).
Volunteer friendly visit
The objective of the friendly visiting volunteer position is to offer a physical presence to a client who is lonely and to break the isolation. The friendly visits are carried out within the framework of home support activities aimed at people with a loss of autonomy and allow the development of a relationship.


Responsabilities :
• Obtain information related to the service (date, time, location, mobility, profile of the
profile);
• Call the recipient the day before the appointment to confirm your presence;
• Talking with the person, playing board games, listening to music, going for a walk
walk;
• Keep a regular schedule that allows the recipient to plan their time with you;
• Contact the SARPAD Coordinator to debrief.
Skills and qualifications:
• Be 18 years of age or older;
• Be patient, empathetic, a good listener, punctual and discreet;
• Speak French and/or English;
• Be discreet and have a sense of responsibility.
Availability and commitment required:
• The duration of the service is a maximum of 3 hours during the day;
• A minimum commitment of 6 months;
• A visit once a week maximum 2;
• Possibility of visit also on Saturday and Sunday

Volunteer driver
The objective of the volunteer driver position for the group grocery service is to provide transportation to a beneficiary to allow him/her to do his/her shopping and also to break the isolation. The group grocery shopping service is provided as part of the home support activities for people with a loss of autonomy. The people receiving the service live in Côte-des-Neiges or Outremont.
Responsibilities:
• Notify your insurer (automobile) of the type of volunteer involvement;
• Obtain information related to the service (time, route, mobility);
• Drive the assigned persons at the agreed time;
• Ensure that beneficiaries have entered their homes;
• Discuss with the person in charge after the service for any comments.
Skills and qualifications:
• Have your own vehicle and a valid driver's license;
• Have insurance in force for the vehicle;
• Be 18 years of age or older;
• Be patient, empathetic, a good listener, punctual and discreet;
• Speak French and/or English;
• Be discreet and have a sense of responsibility.

• Gasoline costs are reimbursed by SARPAD;
• Recognition and training activities are offered free of charge
Volunteer Locations :
• The beneficiaries live in Outremont and Côte-des-Neiges. A route is assigned in advance according to the number of people to be transported. The grocery store is located at Métro Racicot, 1280 Beaumont Avenue, in Town of Mount Royal.
